UNAIR Accounting Department held the 5th Series of Guest Lecture Series online via zoom meeting on Wednesday, 18 May 2022 with the topic “Horizons of Financial Reporting” presented by Michael Davern from the University of Melbourne, Australia and moderated by Devi S. Kalanjati who is a UNAIR Accounting Lecturer. The 5th Guest Lecture Series this time took place from 09.30 – 11.00 WIB and was attended by approximately 200 participants from students, academics and practitioners.

At the beginning of the event, Michael Daven explained about the challenges of financial reporting which experienced very significant developments along with the times. Sustainability reporting or sustainable reporting into financial reporting that is currently attracting many large companies. Financial statements remain an effective information tool for equity investors. Financial reports become starting points for investors to make future investment decisions and project future cash flows. As Michael Daven put it, “We are still a relevant source but our source of competitive advantage in the marketplace isn't about relevance, it's about our reliability, our trustworthiness, the faithful representation".

The Guest Lecture which lasted for 100 minutes was interesting, where the participants were very enthusiastic in asking questions. This event can be watched again on the channel Accounting Department YouTube.
